Fremont Couple Facing More Animal Abuse Charges

Fremont Couple Facing More Animal Abuse Charges

(AP) _

A couple already facing animal cruelty charges could face additional charges after authorities seized more animals from them.

Animal control officers and Dodge County deputies seized pigs, horses, goats, ponies, ducks and chickens from Roland and Lori Peterson's rented home Thursday. Days earlier, officials had discovered at the property two dead goats and another so sick it had to be euthanized.

The discoveries came after the Petersons appeared in court last week in connection with the deaths of 30 dogs, cats, horses and goats between December 2012 and August.

Prosecutors say the couple intentionally and recklessly killed the animals. Dodge County Attorney Oliver Glass filed charges in the case after deputies found decaying animals in a freezer at the farm.
