Gale Launches Investigation Into MECA Board Member’s Voter Registration

In response to a written complaint filed with his office, Secretary of State John Gale has launched a preliminary investigation into the voter registration status of Jaime Gutierrez, a member of the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority board in Omaha.

Questions have been raised as to Gutierrez’ residency and voter registration as it relates to her eligibility to serve on that board.

“My office has been and will continue to gather material from the news media, public sources, and from other sources, with a primary focus on whether Ms. Gutierrez met the requirements of residency in Douglas County on December 28, 2012, the date she filed her voter registration under oath with the Douglas County Election Commission,” said Gale.

Gale went on to say there would be no public comment while the investigation was ongoing.

Pat McPherson of Omaha filed the written complaint with the Secretary of State.
