Humane Society Offers Reward In Dogs Death

The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a $1000.00 reward leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the death of a dog found starved to death and dumped in an alley near 32nd and Decatur.

On Monday, January 14, 2013, Animal Control Officers received a call to 32nd and Decatur. They found a dead Pit Bull in an alley. The dog was wrapped in two white bed sheets, and also a pair of Old Navy button-up blue jeans. It appears the dog was dumped in the alley after being transported there from another location.

The dog’s body was totally emaciated when found.

Results from the autopsy confirmed signs of starvation were present. It couldn’t be verified the dog froze to death, since the corpse was already frozen when found in the alley.

The dog was a male Pit Bull aged 5-7 years.

The Old Navy jeans it was wrapped in were 36 inch waist, 32 inch length.

If found and convicted, the suspect(s) face a felony charge of animal cruelty, punishable by up to five years in prison.
