Ralston Police: Murder Was Not A Random Act

During a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Ralston Police Chief Ron Murtaugh said the shooting death of 42 year old Amiee Kearns at the Orleans Apartments near 83rd and L Street late Monday night was not a random act of violence.

Murtaugh says Kearns and the two Hispanic suspects knew each other, but he did not say what the nature of the relationship was. Murtaugh also indicated that robbery was not a motive for the home invasion.

Only one laptop was taken and several more valuable items were left behind.  Murtaugh says the men broke a window and entered the basement apartment.  Kearns was shot once and died at the scene.  Another woman in the apartment was not hurt.

The men were last seen in a late late 70's or early 80's light blue or grey Lincoln Continental.  Ralston Police are offering a $15-hundred reward for information leading to an arrest.  If you have information about the case call Ralston Police at 402-331-1786
