Smoke Is From Kansas Controlled Burn

If you smell smoke it is from a fire but not in the metro area or even Nebraska.  The smoke is coming from a controlled burn out of Kansas.  Rick Chermok with the National Weather Service in Valley tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB every year Kansas officials burn the grasses and other vegetation in the Flint Hills area.  Wind from the south is blowing the smoke right over eastern Nebraska

Not only can we smell the smoke we can see it.  The smoke is reducing visibility to 3 to 5 miles in some areas of eastern Nebraska.
