An eastern Nebraska woman under arrest has been accused of slipping out of her handcuffs and driving away in a patrol car.

The Saunders County Attorney's Office announced Monday that 23-year-old Jessica Lewin, of Ashland, is accused of threatening her sister with a knife on June 30 and forcing her to drive for several miles.

Lewin was arrested and placed in the front seat of a patrol car. She is accused of escaping her handcuffs and driving away in the patrol car.

The deputy's patrol car was later found behind a farm residence, and Lewin was found sleeping in a van nearby.

Lewin faces several charges, including theft, willful reckless driving and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Her attorney did not immediately return a message Tuesday
